This was Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer and miner who posted an advertisement on a Bitcoin forum offering 10,000 Bitcoins for two large pizzas. Someone accepted his offer, and Hanyecz paid for two Papa John's pizzas with Bitcoin. The value of 10,000 Bitcoins at that time was $41, and today it is estimated to be worth $690 million. However, Hanyecz does not regret spending his Bitcoins because buying pizza with cryptocurrency helped to draw attention to Bitcoin beyond the crypto community.
